Special Applications
CRP can manufacture special bellows to allow them to fulfill particular functions within the plant layout.
Hinged Bellows
These provide only angular movement within the pipeline in one plane, the bellows are anchored along a central pivot point to prevent axial and lateral movement. There strong design prevents pressure thrust and torsional movements.
Lateral Bellows with Spherical Washers
The traditional bellows tie rods are fitted with pairs of spherical washers, that almost eliminate axial movement yet still offer full lateral movement.
Tandem Bellows
When bellows are combined with a pipe spool much greater movements can be achieved over a single expansion bellows. Tandem bellows can be supplied with standard universal bellows or with hinged bellows allowing significant lateral movement.
Smoothbore Powder Sleeves
Where bellows are to be used with high velocities or with entrained solid s we recommend using smoothbore sleeves These are manufactured from PTFE and provide additional protection to the convolutions. These can be specified as either a loose fit—to avoid the sleeve constraining the bellows movement, or a tight fit to minimize the potential build up of solids in the convolutions. As standard the sleeve is sized to protrude just beyond the end of the bellows when at maximum axial length, but this can be specified at time of order.
Static Dissipating Bellows
Where there is concern that static charge may build up within the bellows we can overcome this by providing the bellows manufactured from static dissipating / anti-static PTFE. The PTFE has a small percentage of carbon filler added which allows any charge to dissipate through the convolutions to the connected steel flanges and safely to ground.
